1. Use make, have, and let followed by object + base form of the verb to talk about things that someone can require, cause, or permit another person to do.
Amy makes her students do homework every night. (She requires them to do homework.)
Jamie has them take reponsibility for their own learning. (He causes them to take reponsibility.)
Philip lets them choose their own essay topics. (He permits them to choose their own essay topics.)
2. Help can be followed by either: (The meaning is the same.)
object + base form of the verb (He helped me understand the issue.)
or
object + infinitive (He helped me to understand the issue.)
3. Get has a similar meaning to make and have, but it is followed by object + infinitive, not the base form of the verb.
Sophi got us to stay a little later. (She persudaded us to stay a little later.)
John always gets me to do my best. (He always persuades me to do my best.)
